ON TOUR : Orlando

Orlando is made up of quintessential Americana... Disney, Universal, Marineland. Waffle House is right up there. There is no greater quick and comforting food for bands on the road. I love that the servers call out the orders to the cook and he prepares them by memory. I love that all Waffle Houses look exactly the same, feel the same, taste the same. I love the simplicity and consistency of it all. Modest and Beloved.

AMERICANA

Americana is about revisiting all those places on the street corners of every town in this country. I haven't eaten at The International House of Pancakes since I was young and carefree living in Seattle. I'm in Richmond, Virginia this week. A tradition for Erika and her girlfriend Becky Lacy is to roll out of bed and go have breakfast at IHOP. I was very excited because it's been 15 years. The food was good and the service was excellent, but the best part is that it was just as I remembered it... Eating, laughing and being ready for a nap at 11 am.
